Maliki endorses Obama’s plan for withdrawal from Iraq

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.

In an interview with Der Spiegel released on Saturday, Maliki said he wanted U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq as soon as possible.

The city of Toledo is seeking estimates on the cost of privatizing the city's trash collection services.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner's administration is seeking proposals on a five-year contract to collect trash in all or part of the city, starting in April, 2009, according to an announcement posted on the city Web site Friday.

About six years ago, I had a rental unit whose contents were temporarily seized for non-payment of rent. I had the rental unit paid automatically by credit card but didn't realize that the credit card had expired. They left one message on my answering machine but I guess it got lost in the welter of messages. Thirty days later they broke into my locker.

City workers caught on tape stealing have been fired

UPDATE: News 11 had the pictures. Now two Toledo city workers have been fired after they were caught stealing siding from a vacant home.

The city employees are Charles Weidinger and Issiah Scott. Weidinger is a former city worker who left following an accident.

'Bush adm should release strategic petroleum reserve'

WASHINGTON: Accusing the Bush administration of playing into the hands of big oil companies, a Democratic law maker has demanded that it release supplies from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve that is now close to 700 million gallons, saying the country cannot go "begging" for long.
